Again, on behalf of the entire race team, we thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation.  Stay Home. Stay Safe. Stay Healthy.

March 28th, 2020

Without a doubt, the COVID-19 pandemic has substantially affected life on a local, national and global scale.  And, this unprecedented situation continues to evolve rapidly – sometimes by the hour and certainly on a daily basis.   Recent announcements by Governor Bullock, other Governors around the U.S., the World Health Organization and the Tokyo Olympics have reduced our comfort level about the ability to conduct a mass participation event in Missoula at the end of June.

With 13 weeks remaining until Marathon Sunday, we’re not ready to throw in the towel quite yet.  But we do have to be prepared for the possibility of cancellation. And, we do want to keep you up to date on our planning in that regard.

Beginning effective immediately, all race registration activities are suspended – this includes new registrations, deferrals, bib exchanges and race changes.

On Thursday, May 7th (7 weeks before race weekend), we will determine if the race will proceed as scheduled or have to be cancelled.  Please note that the decision date may occur sooner based on updated guidelines, rules, or orders from our local, state and/or federal officials.

Next Friday (April 3rd), we will post the options available to our participants relative to refunds, deferrals, etc. in the event of a cancellation.

Why are we talking about cancellation and not postponement?  In looking at the local, regional and national calendars, we could not find a suitable fall date that had an opening or the necessary resources (vendors, lodging, volunteers, etc.).

Should we be able to proceed with Marathon Weekend, registration will be re-opened by May 8th and we will continue to follow our normal procedures relative to refunds, deferrals and race changes.  To see our current race refund policy, click HERE.

We get it.  We recognize the uncertainty of this situation is hard for everyone.  We take great pride in putting on our race and love being a part of the energy and excitement of race weekend.  It is our goal and hope that we get to come together as a community and share our spectacular slice of Big Sky Country with you this summer. That’s why we hope this pause in registration will allow us to better evaluate if we can still enjoy this amazing event at the end of June.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation.

March 20th, 2020

With all the uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have chosen to suspend the registration fee increase planned for April 1st, 2020.  Click HERE to review the fee structure for all of the events during marathon weekend.

We know that things are tough for everyone and we don’t want to add to your stress by having to decide whether or not to register ahead of a price increase.  We hope that this gives all our runners and walkers a little bit of breathing room as they watch events unfold.

It will also give our team time to consider our race planning efforts and options as we try to navigate through these unchartered and unprecedented times.

As we’ve said before, with a bit over 14 weeks until the Missoula Marathon, we are still hopeful and cautiously optimistic that the race will take place. To that end, the Missoula Marathon team continues to plan for a successful event during the weekend of June 26th – 28th.

We will continue to monitor the situation with input from local and state health officials, our medical director, race committee and Run Wild Missoula’s board of directors.  We will continue to post updates on missoulamarathon.org, to our social media platforms and via direct emails to registered participants.

And, please – Keep getting in your runs and walks for some much needed physical and emotional self-care in these challenging times.
